For more than 1000 years there has been a substantial building on the site of the present house. The sentinel location reflects its` purpose guarding the medieval quay below. This provided access to the monastic foundation at South Wembury.

Nowadays, 'Thorn House & Garden' offers a wonderful venue for weddings, garden parties and special events. The garden is open to the public by appointment and can be guided by the enthusiastic current owner, Eva Gibson, in English or German.
